Dr. Micah Hatchett, LPC-S, NCC, is a licensed professional counselor, a board-approved licensed professional counselor supervisor, and a national certified counselor. Dr. Hatchett has been practicing counseling since earning her master’s degree in counseling in December, 2001. After receiving her doctorate in counselor education from the University of New Orleans in August, 2008, Dr. Hatchett joined Northshore Counseling and Wellness. In addition to being a counselor, Dr. Hatchett is also a wife and mother of two boys. She is the clinical director of both the Northshore and Southshore locations, and works closely with the owner on revising and implementing policies and procedures, and provides direct supervision of most post-master’s practitioners.
Dr. Hatchett is available for counseling to a variety of clients. Adults and adolescents alike find that Dr. Hatchett’s easygoing, humorous, caring, well-informed and genuine approach makes her easy to talk to and it helps to make the counseling process an enriching and rewarding one. Dr. Hatchett takes a cognitive-behavioral, gay affirmative, humanistic, and client-centered stance when working with clients, focusing on the therapeutic relationship. She believes in empowering clients to make their own healthy choices as well as collaborating with clients on following a treatment plan.
Dr. Hatchett focuses on counseling adults and adolescents struggling with depression; bipolar disorder; anxiety disorders; self-injurious behaviors (cutting, picking); grief; gender identity; sexual orientation; relationship/marriage/parenting issues; career dilemmas; anger management; and life transitions.
Dr. Hatchett is available for counseling in both the Covington and Metairie locations.
