Daina Marshall is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a member of the Louisiana Counseling Association. She obtained a Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Xavier University after earning her Bachelor of Arts and Science in Psychology, and a minor in Sociology, at Louisiana State University. She received specialized training in Multisystemic Therapy (MST), an intensive family treatment program. She also has additional training in Suicide Prevention, Play Therapy, and Trauma focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Daina has extensive experience in the bereaved population, facilitating grief groups in various hospitals throughout the area. Daina has worked with adults, children, adolescents, couples and families with a wide range of mental health challenges, such as, mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, adjustment to major life changes, parenting skills, substance abuse, trauma, crisis intervention, self-injurious behaviors, and suicidal ideations. She specializes in counseling children and families, supporting the parents and children throughout the therapeutic process, by utilizing a family systems approach. She uses Play Therapy as a means to meet children where they are developmentally, and to provide an alternative form of expression through art and play. Utilizing a combination of the arts and therapy, she has been effective in helping to provide necessary tools and skills, while creating a fun environment that helps to effect positive change.
