Erin Shriver, PLPC
Erin is originally from the Maryland/DC area. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Creative Writing from West Virginia University many moons ago. She went on to earn a Master of Education from University of Maryland in 2000 and enjoyed teaching grade levels from preschool in churches to seniors in military school. Erin recently earned a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University and is loving her time as a PLPC. She works primarily with clients experiencing trauma, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Major
Depressive Disorder, adolescence, and marriage.
The therapy approaches Erin uses are CBT, DBT, mindfulness, art in therapy, and tenets borrowed from Somatic Experience. She considers herself a creative partner in the therapeutic relationship she builds with clients; infusing humor, art, and neuroscience in collaborative treatment plans. She believes the human spirit can and will transcend difficulty with the proper support and psychoeducation in place. She loves working with clients who have a commitment to learn new skills, develop a healthy sense of self, and incorporate these experiences into a life filled with meaning and purpose. In her free time
Erin avoids TV, finds her hammock, and writes for a small online community about mental health issues and dogs. Mostly dogs.
